Anisah Syazwani Bte Md Firoz (Entry #919)
Dear Grandma,
I can’t help writing to tell you how lucky I am to be your granddaughter. You are my most beloved grandmother.
You understand me a lot. Whenever I am sick, you’ll be there to nurse me. You would visit me at the hospital and bring me my favourite dish, fried noodles! You have sacrificed a lot for me, especially the nights when you watched over me when I was sick. Asthma often attacks me but you teach me to be strong.
You always tell me to be truthful. You teach me religious knowledge and I learn to be responsible, caring and forgiving.
You dot me a lot and always make me happy. In the past, I got ten to fifty dollars from you on Hari Raya. Thanks, Grandma, for being so generous to me!
Whenever you go out, you would bring me along. I enjoyed attending weddings with you. There was once, you took me to Siti Nurhaliza’s concert at the Esplanade. Do you know how excited I was? It was my first live concert! It was fun and the singer was just amazing! When I grow up, I will bring you to places too!
Grandma, how can I not remember the delicious pizza you treated me on my last birthday. I simply love pizza and you know it! When I was a little girl, mum was working and so I was left in your care and great grandma’s. It’s so sad that great grandma has passed away.
You know, Grandma, how I also wish that Grandpa is around with us. I know he had gone to Philippines to remarry. How I wish, he is here to take me out on weekends. How I wish, we could share jokes together, but I guess it would just remain a dream. You told me stories of how we used to go to the beach on weekends with Grandpa. You would paint me pictures of our memorable experience playing in the water with Grandpa.
Grandpa bought me a Barbie doll for my third birthday. My Barbie doll still stands tall on my dressing table! Grandpa used to drive us around Singapore even to Sentosa! At the Underwater World, Grandpa enjoyed watching me jump gleefully, looking at the fishes. We also watched cartoons in cinemas and indulged in ice-cream at Swensen’s. I hope in the future, Grandpa would reconcile with the family and reminisce the old good times. I miss them!
I will always have fond memories of you and Grandpa. To me, grandchildren and grandparents mean happy times together. Grandma, you’re nice, polite, cheerful and sincere. You lavish me with love and really care for me. From the bottom of my heart, “I love you so much, Grandma!” I am really thankful to have you Grandma. You are my precious gold, my jewel that brighten up my life! I will cherish you as long as I live.
Love,
Your grand daughter, Anisah
