Ng Jia Xin (Entry #889)
Dear Grandpa,
I am sorry for not having written earlier. I hope all is well for both you and grandma. Over here, all of us are in the best of health. I am doing fine here in the school.
Life here in Singapore as a student is pressurising and stressful. My time is fully used up in tuition, CCA and studying. However, I do keep fit by jogging a bit. It has been a long time since all of us got together and I want very much for us all to be in close contact. This will be my last semester and my parents plan to pay both you and Grandma a visit in this coming school holidays. Yippee! I can spend more time with you and hope to learn swimming from you this time.
Remember the incident that I fell into the pond? We were in the Botanical Gardens taking a stroll when I spotted some fishes in a pond. The fishes were brightly coloured and I squatted down at the pond to admire the fishes. Suddenly, I slipped and fell into the pond. As I could not swim, I struggled and tried to stay afloat but to no avail I tried shouting for help but instead swallowed in mouthfuls of dirty waterl Then, my mind went blank. When I woke up, I found myself in the hospital. My parents were there and they told me that you had plunged into the water to rescue me. I thanked you profusely. I regretted not learning swimming from you as you were a swimming coach and had always wanted to teach me.
Here’s wishing you the best of everything. My prayers for your continued good health. Please convey my love to grandma. I’ll see you soon.
Till then, bye for now.
Your loving grandson,
Ng Jia Xin
