Appreciating our Grandparents
The definition of the word “Grandparents” is a parent of one’s father or mother, in other words, our parents’ parents. They are our own, and they deserve to be treated well.
Our grandparents have gone through a lot for us and our parents and for that, they should be appreciated. Some of our grandparents have experienced the World war Two and survived. They must be really great to have such extraordinary willpower to survive. We would gain a lot from their experiences.
Some teens say that they cannot communicate well with their grandparents. Well, I am sure that their grandparents are in anguish because of the language barrier. As we are young, for one thing, it would be easier for us to learn a new language than for them, and I am sure it would benefit us as well. I am sure that there is not one person in this world whose heart will not be warmed at seeing their joy when they can finally communicate with their grandchildren. Grandparents can also teach us valuable lessons, and teach us new games, maybe some that could be even more interesting than computer games.
Some teens might go so far as to introduce computer games to their grandparents. For all you know, your grandparents might end up a worthy opponent. Obviously, there would be a majority of grandparents who will not take to computer games, and these are mostly grandparents who have poor eyesight, or are weak, so all their energy is consumed by solely pushing the buttons. But of course, there will be the grandparents who are adventurous and willing to try anything.
A number of teens feel that grandparents should nag as a living because they are so good at it. I am sure these teens have not thought twice about the reason their grandparents even bother to nag. Obviously any grandparent would choose to spare his/her grandchild the nagging, but when they deem it fit to let their grandchild suffer the nagging, there is sure to be a good reason behind it.
Grandparents, generally lead a good life in Singapore. They take on the role of the domestic helper, without the paycheck of course. They cook, do the unstrenuous cleaning and buy groceries. They may also set apart a certain time to do their exercise. However, there is also a small minority of grandparents who lead an extravagant life. They are often taken good care of by their children and these are the lucky few. Sometimes, grandparents are often entrusted with the grandchildren’s most precious secrets and are often there for the kids when the parents are too busy for them. They are the advisors of the family.
Grandparents are the ones who usually spoil you silly, and sometimes protect you from the wrath of your parents. They make you tasty treats and take you to exciting outdoor fieldtrips. Alongside with all of that, they also love you immensely. I think that definitely, their love should be reciprocated.
